As senior author of the study, I’d like to correct a few inaccuracies in your post. First, this wasn’t simply about “opinion”. We conducted an exhaustive data search, including reports from diabetes care providers and medical records, to validity patient responses. Second, we do not claim that very low carb diet would cure type 1 (although that may be a possibility for type 2). Rather, we aim to demonstrate a phenomenon not through presently possible: that children and adults with proven type 1 can obtain essentially normal blood glucose levels and low rates of complications on a very low carb diet. Documenting this in an scientific study is a key step, prior to large scale clinical trials. Please see my blog with links to the full text study, so readers can decide for themselves about study significance: https://medium.com/@davidludwigmd/is-exceptional-control-of-type-1-diabetes-possible-with-a-low-carbohydrate-diet-69cb21b91792
